"Monday Must Have" this week - 11.7.11

Our "Monday Must Have" this week is all about the FRINGE!! You have probably seen a lot of this trend in magazines and it is starting to be everywhere. It is such an easy trend to incorporate in your everyday wardrobe or for a night out. And you don't need to look like a hippie or your daughter :)

Here is this fabulous cream colored cardigan with jeans, boots and a T...simple and comfortable.

Next I paired the same cardigan with this adorable dress. I left the boots and jeggings on, however, you could easily add some tights and heels and make this work for you daytime job or a night out.

We also got this super cool top with fringe all around the bottom with a rope belt at the waist. You could definitely do this as a top with jeans or more of a dress with leggings and tights. Here I have it with jeans and boots.

Now add some accessories and change your look...

LOVING the fringe bag as well :)

All of these items will be in store this month! If you would like to purchase or have held, email chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. All come in small, medium and large.

Have a great week! See you in the store soon!

Our "Monday Must Have" of the week is all about how to "winterize" dresses. 10.24.2011

Although I have yet to believe it with this 70 degree weather, rumor is it is going to turn cold sooner rather than later. This post is all about “winterizing” dresses that are currently in our store… just in case the wind chill drops over night like they keep saying it will! “Winterizing” is all about layering…

Start with putting a long sleeve shirt and tights and boots under the dress

And then Add a jacket..

Switch the look by adding a scarf and belt

This trend is very easy to do, as you can see, and even better it gets a few more uses out of the dresses.

As always, email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com to hold or purchase. We do have Small, Medium and Larges left in most of these dresses.

"Monday Must Have" of the week! 10.17.11

It was cold and rainy today, making me want to just stay home with a big blanket around me. But I had 5 million things to do plus get my daughter to and from school so that was not an option.

However, there is something that you can wear right now that feels like a big blanket but is actually very on trend and all over the magazines right now - an oversized poncho! Here is one we have in store this week in a burnt orange color...

These can be tricky to pull off and I actually do not recommend any petite figures to wear these - it will just make you look too big. You definitely need a legging or skinny pant on the bottom. I especially like all black underneath. This one is great because it has a stretchy fleece material inside that makes it so cozy and soft.

Plus, there is a button at the shoulder where you can close it giving you another look!

The last way to work this piece is to just throw one side over your shoulder...

This trend is not for everyone. It is a great throw on piece instead of a jacket - can be dressed up or worn very casual. I love it with some tall boots on a snowy or rainy day but I do think it only works with certain body types. Definitely come give it a try because if it does work for you, it will be the most comfortable thing in your closet for these colder days coming our way!

As always, email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com to hold or purchase. It comes in small, medium and large. I have the medium on here and I am usually a size 6. The arms do fit tight but they do have some stretch and had some give the longer I wore it.

Burnt orange poncho: $58
Black legging: $36

Also, please excuse the blinds in the background of the pictures...we are in the process of moving and our house (and the wall I usually use to take these pics) is a total disaster lined with boxes so this was the only free space :)

Have a great week!!!

Our "Monday Must Have" outfit of the week! 10.3.11

I have talked about the 70's trend for several months now so this is nothing new. However, last week on Project Runway (yes, this is one of my favorite shows - I really wish I could design and sew clothes, owning Chocolate Peacock will have to do for now), the challenge was to create a look for Piperlime that went along with the 70's trend. There were jumpsuits, maxis, snakeskin prints - all of which we have in store - but there will also some wide leg, high waisted pants! So this week's "Monday Must Have" outfit of the week are these silky navy high waisted wide leg pleated pants.

They fit long (I'm about 5'5'' and I am wearing the medium) but add a great heel and you are good to go. OR if you are taller- they may just be perfect!! I am shaped like a boy with absolutely no waistline so if you have a waist, even better - you will need these pants to show that off!

First, I paired them with just a basic long sleeve T. Next step would be to accessorize away - necklaces, scarves, whatever you want.

Second pairing is with this AMAZING bright yellowish/ green vest. I picture this outfit at parties, charity functions, showers and even at weddings when you really just don't want to shave your legs and wear a dress. Plus, this vest is a must have in itself - put this over anything and you have updated an old look.

Next is more of a casual look paired with a long grey chunky seater. This may be my favorite one simply because it is easy and comfortable but still looks sohisticated, on trend and pulled together.

Last outfit is a work look. Pair these pants with a jacket and scarf and you are ready for the day!

Both the pant and the ruffled vest are in store now! The pants are $64 and the vest is $86. They both come in small, medium and large. Small is usually a 0-2, medium is 4-6 and large is 8-10. As always, if you want either of these held (we can hold anything for 24 hours), email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. If you live out of town, we would be happy to ship!

Have a wonderful week and I hope to see you in store very soon!

Our "Monday Must Have" this week is all about CHOCOLATE!

I get so many questions about our name and why we named it Chocolate Peacock and where we came up with it. First, I do not have any wierd fascination with peacocks or anything. I do absolutely love chocolate but that had nothing to do with it either. I really wanted something different, fun and memorable - just like the clothes that I was going to sell. It was getting down to the wire and I needed a name - everything else had been done and we were in the process of doing signage - it had to be done. I was using the peacock feather colors for decor so the word peacock was definitely top of mind. My husband and I sat down one night and literally just brainstormed and listed any word that we could think of...my husband said Chocolate Peacock and I loved it instantly. It was perfect- love it or hate it, you remember it. It was funky, different, fun and memorable - exactly what I was selling! It gave me so many ideas for decor and bags. My logo was created by a graphic designer at Bailey Lauerman and it was fabulous. And the best thing that has come from the name is all the marketing that surrounds it. The feathers that we put in our bags, customers recognize the colors in our logo (believe it or not, we are the only boutique that uses color in our logo and name...or so I've been told) and we are associated with chocolate! Not only do we always keep chocolate in our store but we get asked to be at events such as the CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL that was held yesterday! Since our name has chocolate in it, we got to be apart of it ;)

This takes me to the "Monday Must Have" of the week - all of the local bakeries, chocolate stores and candy stores throughout Omaha. There are SO MANY fabulous ones - I couldn't believe it. I am obviously a huge supporter of small, local businesses so go out and support these stores and bakeries - they are a MUST HAVE!!

The 1st Great Omaha Chocolate Festival was held at the UNO Fieldhouse. It was organized by the National Council of Jewish Women of Omaha to fund the organizations they support. You paid $5 at the door and you got to sample chocolates from all kinds of different vendors. And they had an unbelievable turn out for a first year event!

Here is our booth that we had! I wouldn't normally say this but our booth didn't even compare to the other ones there- because we didn't have any chocolate. But it was ok, people still seemed to love having us there and I think we will see many new customers :)

Next year, I will try and post this BEFORE the event so you can actually attend!

Here are some of the vendors that were there:

Janicek's Cake Box (My personal favorite - he did my wedding cake :) )
The Cordial Cherry
Rocket Fizz
Le Quartier Baking Company
Pettit's Pastry

DELICIOUS!!! Go support your local bakeries!

"Monday Must Have" this week! 9.18.11

Our "Monday Must Have" post this week is very FULL. I am going to start with the actual "Must Have" that is in store now. This piece is hard to understand why it is so great until you see all the different ways to wear it. I love it because I have never seen it before and I find it very flattering and cool.

It looks like an ordinary brown long vest...

However, there are 3 snaps in different locations that make it so much more. One up by the shoulder and 2 on each hip. Snap them in different places and you have 3 different looks!

I have it paired here with just a long sleeve cream T and black leggings. However, you could wear it more as a dress and add some tall boots and depending on the weather, take the leggings off. If it is really warm, take the T off as well and just put a cami. You could belt this, put a jacket over it, add a scarf- the possibilities are endless!!

As always, if you want one held or shipped, please email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com.

Comes in small, medium and large and it is $74. The T underneath is $20 and the leggings are $36. All in store now!

The second thing that I am going to talk about is the EMMY's from last night!! I love a great awards show but mostly for the dresses. Here are a few of my favorites:

The theme of the night was definitely red and lace. The best ones of these trends are the following (in my opinion):

The navy dress on the far right is one of my favorites for lace and this red dress is to die for - stunning.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Our "Monday Must Have" this week! 9.12.11

We carry a lot of color and a lot of pattern and prints. However, we also carry a ton of accessories. We sometimes get asked about more basic items or one color items that can be accessorized or layered. So this week, our "Monday Must Have" is this great mid- length dress. It ties at the waist to bring it in and fits very true to size. The length of this dress is a huge trend this fall and it is great for so many more occasions than the shorter ones.

I could have done 20 different looks with this so I picked 3-4 to picture here but there is SO much you can wear this with!

First one is a boho 70s vibe paired with a long necklace and strappy flat sandals...great for everyday.

The second one is more of a work look - a great bib necklace with heels.

The next one could be for work, a meeting or lunch with friends...flip flops and our fantastic linen olive green blazer.

The last look is again great for work but could be worn many places. This is one of my favorite jackets we have for fall- brown with textured faux leather pieces and different angles throughout. Plus, the best thing (in my opinion) about a mid- length dress is wearing it with boots- perfect length to cover all or most of your leg without a tight or legging. Sandals and flip flops when we have these random 90 degree days and boots for when it gets cold.

Both jackets pictured here and this dress are available in store this week! Prices are as follows:

mid- length dress: $42
brown jacket: $94
green blazer: $78
all of our jewelry: ranges from $10-$70

As always, please email me to purchase or hold - chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. We can ship anywhere!!

Have a great week!!
