Our "Monday Must Have" outfit this week! 8.22.11

Our "Monday Must Haves" this week are 2 of our sequin pieces in store right now. I don't wear a lot of sequins usually but when they are styled properly, they can be great. And I did still see many sequins this past market for fall and of course, in holiday wear so they are here to stay at least another year!

I am going to show how to take the glitz and glam out of the sequins and make it more stylish and cool. Plus, any age can wear them depending on what you pair it with.

First piece is our mini gold sequin dress. I could never pull this off as a dress - I don't have anywhere to wear it first of all but I also just don't do mini tight dresses usually. However, I love this as a top underneath something with some leggings.

First picture is a shot of the dress alone and the second and third pictures are what I did with it!

How great is the back of this black jacket - it is shear!! By the way, the weight of this jacket is more like a blouse - this is in store currently as well!

The 2nd piece is a blouse with a sequin heart on it. I actually love this top - it is so stinkin cute. However, I don't want to look like I'm 16. Or 12 for that matter :)

The 1st picture is the blouse alone and the 2nd one is paired with an oversize knit sweater and skinny jeans. I think the sweater takes away from the cute effect adding something a bit more sophisticated.

Prices are as follows:

Mini sequin gold dress: $54
pink blouse with gold heart: $56
black jacket with shear back (this is more like a blouse that looks like a jacket): $68
chunky knit grey sweater: not in store until Sept

As always, to purchase or have held, email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. All pieces come in small, medium and large.

Thank you! Have a great week!!

"Monday Must Have" outfit this week! 8.15.11

Our "Monday Must Have" outfit this week is a transitional/ fall romper that we just got in. I call it a romper instead of a jumper simply because it has shorts and not pants. I call it transitional/ fall because it has long sleeves, great coverage, fall print and the ability to wear now and all through fall.

Why do I love a great romper? Rompers are hard for people - you do have to find a particular fit to make it work and they don't work for everyone. However, if you do find one - they are an easy, instant outfit without having to put a lot of pieces together and they always make you look on trend and put together. With that said, they are super annoying when you need to go to the bathroom - major downside - just something you have to deal with when wearing them.

This particular one that is the "Must Have" this week is a perfect transitional piece. It does have a longer sleeve, a collar, fabulous detail with the buttons and fit and it has a great print with colors that work through fall.

The colors are actually a light purple with black zig zags. I love when there is black included for a transitional piece- it makes it SO easy to take thru fall because you can add black layering pieces which are much easier to find and that you probably already have. Here I added a black tight and a black bootie shoe. LOVE it!

Just to show you another option for taking your rompers into fall...here is one that we got in last month (we do have a few left!) - this one is great because it has a snake print (right on trend for fall) plus black in it - very easy to transition!

I added a strappy high heel to make it work for a fun night out.

And for a chilly night or those fall evenings that will be here soon, I added a black jacket -

I would also add a black belt to this to break it up a bit. Belts will instantly help you wear a romper and get over the "one piece" look that people can't stand about them.

Both of these rompers are available in store now...prices are as follows:

Long sleeve purple/ black zig zag romper: $66
snake skin print red and black romper: $48
black tights: Target
black jacket: Gap

As always, to purchase or have held, email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. I am wearing the size medium in both of these and I am usually about a size 6 in most things (they come in small, medium and large). Height is also very important when considering a romper - I am about 5'5" - I will say that both of these were not short on me, about perfect length so if you are taller, it could work especially when pairing tights with them!! And if you are shorter, they could be too long so you will want to try them on for sure.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

"Monday Must Haves" FOR FALL! 8.8.11

I did most of my buying for Fall this past June at the Dallas market. But I knew I would need more and I like to underbuy a bit so I can buy more right before the season. So I went to Chicago this weekend for a quick 1 day buying trip. I've been excited for fall since that first day it hit 115 degrees outside but after being at market where everything was fall, winter and holiday - I CAN NOT FREAKING WAIT!!!! I want to wear it now and this little cool nip in the air that we have today is putting me in such a good mood.

Instead of picking just one "Must Have" this week, I am going to tell you about all the "Must Haves" for fall...what I saw trending at market. There are some trends from last year that are back again in full effect plus some new things sprinkled in. I try my best to find the trends and then buy something unique within that trend.

**The pictures shown here are not what I bought and will not be in store...there will be some similar things and I just used these to give you an example. **

1.) PRINTS: leopard, zebra, snakeskin and polka dots! All of the animal prints were HUGE last year and they are back again. There are 2 new ones that are new on the scene and that is snakeskin and polka dots. And in my opinion they are on opposite ends of the spectrum style wise. Snakeskin is edgy and polka dots are girly and femanine. Either way, they are both everywhere this next season - see them in scarves, handbags, shoes, dresses and sweaters.

2.) 70's VIBE: Everything comes back around...and back again are the 70's. They were definitely in spring and summer wear and they are going to be with us all through fall as well. Blouses, wide leg and high waisted pants, capes and ponchos...I love these looks!!!

3.) COLORS of fall: The one I saw the most of this weekend was a rust orange or burnt orange (whatever you want to call it). It was EVERYWHERE - blouses, sweaters, dresses, pants and coats. A deep plum purple was also very popular in a lot of sweaters and coats. Another big one was blue - not navy like last year but more of a bright royal blue...it is gorgeous. This picture here is a perfect example of that color blue plus the blouses from the 70s...

4.) BOLD ACCENTS: feathers, lace and leather! We have all seen the feather craze hit in the accessory world (we have a whole feather jewelry line in store right now and how many times are we going to see a feather earring on So You Think You Can Dance?!?! Yes, I LOVE SYTYCD). Now, they will also be all over your clothing - around the neckline, on belts and ties, pendants and broaches for your coats and the actual feather print is huge in dresses and blouses. Lace is back again as well - touches of it with edgier fabrics or all over lace in different colors. And leather or pleather is all the rage. Leather skirts, leather vests, leather jackets..I especially love it in a camel color but you can never go wrong with black. You can do all leather or just pieces of it mixed in with other fabrics - shown below...

Like I said before, the pictures shown here are NOT what I bought and will NOT be in store. I did buy things that are similar but I just wanted to show you an example of each trend that I saw. Trust me, the things that will be in store are much better that what is pictured here!! :)

Have a great week!

Our "Monday Must Have" this week! 8.1.11

My very favorite time of year is coming soon...FALL!!! I am not a fan of this heat - I hate the extremes we have here especially when I'm ready to wear the next season's clothes. This month will be our introduction to all the fall trends - no, we will probably not be wearing them so I am going to try and ease into it by making things transitional. Ways you can possibly wear them now and then throughout the fall and winter. I am going to start off with this fabulous light weight cardigan. It is FULL of COLOR and perfect to throw over anything! And it has peacock feathers - could I ask for a more perfect "Monday Must Have"?!?!

Like I said before, it is a very light weight silky fabric. It has that whole 70s vibe that will be present all through the fall plus an amazing peacock print which is always in style in my book.

My first pairing is with a great layered necklace, basic white T and jeans.

My second pairing is with shorts!

Last pairing is with a little black dress. Perfect way to dress up any basic dress. This here is one of our slips - once again, another way to use these slips!

This piece comes in small, medium and large. I am wearing the small here. Prices are as follows:

peacock print cardigan: $68
blue shorts: $74 (these are 30% off in store) - we only have medium size left in these
slips: $24 (we only have 1 large black slip left but do have other colors available)
Necklaces: $24 - $48 (we do not have the exact necklaces that are pictured here in store since we never re-order the same thing, however, we do have very similar pieces)

As always, if you want to have one held or to purchase, email me at chocolatepeacockboutique@gmail.com. If you buy 3 or more items that are listed above, you will receive 15% off all 3 items.

Have a great week!!!
