Our "Monday Must Have" this week is all about CHOCOLATE!

I get so many questions about our name and why we named it Chocolate Peacock and where we came up with it. First, I do not have any wierd fascination with peacocks or anything. I do absolutely love chocolate but that had nothing to do with it either. I really wanted something different, fun and memorable - just like the clothes that I was going to sell. It was getting down to the wire and I needed a name - everything else had been done and we were in the process of doing signage - it had to be done. I was using the peacock feather colors for decor so the word peacock was definitely top of mind. My husband and I sat down one night and literally just brainstormed and listed any word that we could think of...my husband said Chocolate Peacock and I loved it instantly. It was perfect- love it or hate it, you remember it. It was funky, different, fun and memorable - exactly what I was selling! It gave me so many ideas for decor and bags. My logo was created by a graphic designer at Bailey Lauerman and it was fabulous. And the best thing that has come from the name is all the marketing that surrounds it. The feathers that we put in our bags, customers recognize the colors in our logo (believe it or not, we are the only boutique that uses color in our logo and name...or so I've been told) and we are associated with chocolate! Not only do we always keep chocolate in our store but we get asked to be at events such as the CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL that was held yesterday! Since our name has chocolate in it, we got to be apart of it ;)

This takes me to the "Monday Must Have" of the week - all of the local bakeries, chocolate stores and candy stores throughout Omaha. There are SO MANY fabulous ones - I couldn't believe it. I am obviously a huge supporter of small, local businesses so go out and support these stores and bakeries - they are a MUST HAVE!!

The 1st Great Omaha Chocolate Festival was held at the UNO Fieldhouse. It was organized by the National Council of Jewish Women of Omaha to fund the organizations they support. You paid $5 at the door and you got to sample chocolates from all kinds of different vendors. And they had an unbelievable turn out for a first year event!

Here is our booth that we had! I wouldn't normally say this but our booth didn't even compare to the other ones there- because we didn't have any chocolate. But it was ok, people still seemed to love having us there and I think we will see many new customers :)

Next year, I will try and post this BEFORE the event so you can actually attend!

Here are some of the vendors that were there:

Janicek's Cake Box (My personal favorite - he did my wedding cake :) )
The Cordial Cherry
Rocket Fizz
Le Quartier Baking Company
Pettit's Pastry

DELICIOUS!!! Go support your local bakeries!
